Hound's Poll

The Hound wants to provide links that will be of use to you. However, we do not endorse any materials listed here, so the usual rules of testing Internet materials for accuracy and authority applies! Caveat emptor! [Buyer beware!]

If you have found a useful link that you would like to share with others, or if you maintain a site which you would like to add to this list, please Email the Hound at: webmaster@sheetmusichound.com

Professional bodies:

Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM) A professional association for musicians. Web site has some general information and a members area. Focus on employment issues and careers in music.
Musicians Union

This website has basic information about the services of the union. If you've got any performance royalties due to you, they'll help you find out!

Music resources :

Artistopia A subscription service aimed at performing and aspiring artists in the music business. US-based, it includes artist information through to downloads.
Classical.com A site specialising in recorded classical works for purchase and download. There is a useful reference section and arts news features to keep up to date with current developments.
New Music Label A forum for self-publicity and on-line music community.
TalkBass.com A forum for bass players - electric and acoustic.
Viola Group References for the violist and those interested in the viola.

Music publishers :

Many music publishers have a web presence of some kind. Some will allow you to purchase music direct, others to place an order that will be forwarded to a local music shop. However, we deal with so many publishers that we could not list them all here without the page becoming an unmanageable length! As a result, we have limited the list to small, specialist publishers within the resources section.

Should schools and music education facilities promote or incentivise uptake of "less popular" instruments?
